How to take care of your grill, gas and coal

I finally splurged and got these cast iron grates for my 8-year old Weber Genesis Silver A...wish I would have gotten them years ago! They are heavy (durable) and leave a great char mark on whatever you grill. They are also easier to clean that the original ceramic coated steel grates, nothing has stuck to them yet after a month of use (10 or so uses). Combined with new burners, I have a new grill that will last another 8 years. I am very pleased.

My husband and I purchased the Weber Genesis Silver gas grill approx 6-7 years ago and it has been a wonderful grill for us - We originally purchased this grill on sale for 9.00. I purchased these for my Weber Genesis grill. As grates go, they are pretty solid and pretty expensive - but I guess there's a premium to pay for getting a genuine Weber product....

In my mind, there's no rocket-science to buying grates that are specific to one's grill. Either it fits or it doesn't. So, what it boils down to is how much one wants to spend. I was willing to spend a little more to get grates which were identical to those which came with my grill. So, in shopping around, I found that Amazon had the best price for such. The free Super-Saver shipping also sweetened the deal for me.

If there's a downside to the product it is in the fact that the length of the grates are about an eighth of an inch too long. As such, they do not fit side-by-side in the grill unless you angle one of the grates diagonally ever so slightly. This is not a problem unless you are a fanatic about symmetrical grill marks on your food! Were it not for this minor flaw (coupled with my high expectations about quality for the price) I would have provided a five star rating.

04:01 cup tomato sauce

How-to:

Mix olive oil, garlic, red wine vinegar and tomato sauce together in a large bowl and season the mixture with cayenne pepper, basil and salt. Add the shrimp andmix well. Cover the bowl and let cool to have a half hour to an hour, stirring several times.

Preheat the grill to medium heat. Run the marinated shrimp skewer, piercing it once near the head and once near the tail. Discard the marinade. Oil the grill grate and cook the prawns for few minutes per side or until opaque. Serve hot, wet with a creamy sauce. The sauce is optional, but some people want their kabobs way you could also dipsome preparation.

Ingredients: • 8 flour tortillas, taco size (recommended: Mission) • 5 ounces Brie cheese, sliced, divided • 3 / 4 pound smoked turkey breast, thinly sliced, divided • 1 / 2 cup apricot preserves (recommended: Smucker) divided • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (recommended: Kraft), divided • 2 cups of herbs aromatic mixture (parsley, basil, tarragon, chives, mint, oregano) • 1Tablespoon fresh lemon juice salt freshly ground black pepper • • Preparation: Set up grill for direct cooking over medium heat and rub the oil when you are ready to cook.
